My Passion is Criminal Defense.
I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. In my final year of law school, I decided to come back to my hometown, because this city was in need of a dedicated defender of constitutional rights.
Those constitutional rights are under attack. Every other year, the Texas Legislature meets and expands the criminal justice system. You need an attorney who has a passion to fight against this encroachment. Poor legal representation is a real problem in today's modern and harsh criminal justice system. Penalties and stakes are high, while resources are low. This can lead to serious injustice. If you don’t fight, you will experience that injustice.
Injustice is what inspired me go to St. Mary’s School of Law. While there, I found my way into the Criminal Justice Clinic and truly found my passion. After finishing St. Mary's Criminal Justice Clinic and graduating from St. Mary’s School of Law, I moved to Corpus and opened up my own office in 2010. Since, I have gained a reputation for being a hard headed advocate of my clients' rights. Within my first year, I had tried 9 felony cases and numerous misdemeanors.
In 2014, I was named Criminal Defense Attorney of the Year by the CC Bar Association. In 2015, I became the President of the Criminal Section of the CC Bar Association. I am a founding member of the Coastal Bend Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, an organization that was created to be a counterweight to the power of the District Attorney's Office. I continue to fight for smart on crime issues when the legislature is in session. I organized and operated the local chapter for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws from 2013 to 2020.
My promise to anyone considering my representation: I will take that passion for our Constitutional rights and apply it to your case. I don't care if its a ticket or a murder, if you are accused of a crime and you don't know what to do, call my office.
Areas of Practice
Innocence
Our Founding Fathers originally set up a system that would keep innocent men free. If the state could not prove every element, then a person should be set free.
An accusation is not proof of guilt. Do not let the state coerce you into a plea bargain if you have a defense.
DWI or Intoxication crimes
DWI enforcement is increasing. The government is attempting to destroy your constitutional rights in order to arrest you for DWI. They lie to the public on billboards about DWI. They create fake sobriety tests. They want you to feel like you can't fight it.
Don't believe the hype, you can fight and you can win on DWI. Refuse everything, remain silent, and call me when you get out.
Aggravated or 3g cases
Do not let these accusations scare you. They are serious and might end in prison time, but a good attorney can protect you. A good attorney can tell you when these cases are good to take to trial or when you should take them to a judge for punishment.
Traffic Tickets
It may sound silly to hire an attorney for a ticket, but here in Texas, our politicians are attaching more and more punishment to minor traffic tickets.
Even if you are responsible and pay your tickets, you could face license suspension or serious insurance consequences. Don't let that happen to you, give me a call if you have one ticket or twenty.
Clean up your Record
Unfortunately in this country, it is becoming harder and harder to move on with your life after a criminal accusation. The government is making it easier and easier to do background checks on people.
Have you completed probation or has your case been dismissed? You can clean your record. I can help you do that.
Occupational license
Millions of Texans have had their driver's license revoked or suspended by the government. Do not let them destroy your ability to get to work, school, or other household necessities. And do not be the fool who picks up ticket after ticket for driving with a suspended license.
